Marrakech is the fourth largest city in Morocco, behind Casablanca, Rabat and Fes and has been inhabited since the New Stone Age or Neolithic era.

You can find Marrakech just north of the Atlas mountain range.

In North African cities it is common to find and ancient medina quarter and Marrakech has one of the most extensive of these in the world.

The Jemaa el Fna is a UNESCO world heritage site so definitely worth checking out whilst in Marrakech. Come here just as the sun is setting for the best experience as this is when all the locals congregate at the square.
